Horne`s Restaurant in Port Royal

It's ok. My primary concern was the older woman working behind the ice cream counter dealing with the food and training a guy on the cash register, and not wearing her mask. Very disrespectful to disregard customer safety.

This is a nice, friendly, historic bit of road side fun. The portions are good sized, the food is good, and there are treats for the kids.

You absolutely cannot drive by Horne's without noticing it. Worth a stop to see a little piece of the area that hasn't changed.

First time back since all the 'rona madness started and it was perfect! Veggie omelette and perfectly crispy home fries, rye toast and a pancake followed up with apple pie a la mode! It was my daughter's first trip and she was not disappointed, except that she didn't order home fries too! Everywhere you go your home fries are a little different. Horne's is serving up these crispy diced taters, mmm. Can't wait to go back. Next time it's going to be the donut supreme for dessert. Two warm donuts, icecream, oh yeah!!!And for the covid crowd, staff wore masks, nothing on the tables, your waitress will bring it out, every other booth is closed for social distancing.

When stationed at Little Creek Amphib Base in the early 90's Horne's was a waypoint/stop on the car rides to my parents in Maryland. It is unchanged, thank God. Stop in and have the cheeseburger all the way with crinkle fries. CLASSIC!!! And you can't beat a classic, not a cheeseburger and definitely not Horne's. Vintage candy, Hershey's Ice Cream and terrific service.

When you travel, you always have a place you want to stop enroute that serves great food with no surprises. This place is that place for me, never upset over their food, it is always great and staff are attentive. Diner feel to the place and has been here for years. Make it your stopping place when you travel their way. Great food, and will always make it my place as long as they're there and they don't change. Great job Horne's.

Great milkshakes and the fried chicken is something everyone should try! It's the best fried chicken I've ever had.

Very good food fast service too. Limited seating I haven't had any problem getting a seat though

Fantastic little place to stop, would love to have given 4 or 5 *'s but the air conditioner was broken and it was 83 degrees!! Makes it hard to shop when it is that hot.

Best home cooked food. Serve breakfast 24x7. Reasonable prices. Extensive lunch and dinner menu. Amazing Root Beer Floats

I remember my family stopping here when I was a child. What a delight to find it again as an adult. And its the same. And the food is delicious.

We used to stop at many places like this years ago on trips to Florida so it was nice to see this one still around and doing well. Store was well stocked and breakfast we had was really good. The staff was very polite and attentive even though they were quite busy. Worth a stop!

Everyone was super nice and the food was excellent. There's 7 in my family, so it was a big order and the waitress and the cook asked several times if we needed anything else and how the food was. Better than 5 stars!!!

Horne's was ok. The service was slow. Food could have been warmer. The honey mustard sauce was just plain mustard. I ordered onion rings and only had 3 small rings and 2 larger ones.

I'm glad we stopped in at this place completely randomly. It felt legit like the type of America you might see in an old movie. Ice cream serve was generously sized and delicious. I took a star off for kind of slow service especially since we just wanted an ice cream!

Love this place! Don't forget there is a picnic area in the back of the parking lot.. a great place to take your To-go order if your traveling with dogs! If you need anything the restaurant is right there!

Always a great stop in between my trip from MD to VA. Ice cream is pretty tasty.

Cool atmosphere, friendly staff. I bit into the cornbread and got a hair. I assume that means the cornbread is house-made.

I love their macaroni and cheese! They serve pretty decent food for a pretty fair price. My only complaints is that sometimes it takes a long time, and the last time I went they gave me a really skimpy chicken tender piece. I showed them and they fixed it ! They were super nice about it and I know they made a mistake. It took awhile for them to make our food in the first place. This is the only reason they get a 4 instead of a 5. It took us so long to get the food in the first place that I kind of expected it to be right.What was supposed to be a 15-20minute stop ended up being 45minutes, but I will continue to dine here and look forward to coming back ! Only suggestion would be to have the staff check the food to be sure there's nothing wrong with it.

We always stop at Horne's in Port Royal, Virginia on our trips to Williamsburg. The home-style food they serve is very good, and the prices are very reasonable. The service is friendly and attentive. On this trip, we picked up several jars of jelly made specifically for Horne's. We are looking forward to trying the Moonshine jelly.

Whenever we go to the Northern Neck, Horne’s is one of our favorite spots to get food. The staff is friendly and there isn't a long wait once you order your food. The restaurant has a really nice old school feel! I got the Cuban Sandwich today for lunch and it was so good, a definite must try if you decide to stop by!

What a nice place to stop on your way through! Take a seat and sit back and relax! People need to slow down and take a breath... this is the place. Food was good sweet tea was on point! Staff was friendly and did their job. Only problem I had was once I finished my burger I had no room for ICE CREAM!!!! HA HA HA HA!!! OWELL I will have to make a trip just for that! Nice down home feel.

This is such a cool place. It has a old timey diner feel, and the food is great. Their breakfast food is my favorite, so good, and so well priced. There is also a fun little store that sells trinkets and random things inside it as well as the restaurant. It's kinda out of the way of everything but it's a good stop if you're passing through.

Nice place to stop, get something to eat. The service was very good, try the Meatloaf with fries and gravy. This is Gas Station/Store/Diner. We have been want to stop each time we drive by but the parking lot was not big enough for our Motorhome, we did however make the stop when we wanted to visit George Washington's Birth Place, just down the road. Well worth a stop.

Such a great place to stop and rest on my way South from DC. Great ice cream, good food, restrooms gas and lots of gifts. I just bought a handmade knife there in December for 30 dollars.

My husband h/b wanting to visit Hornes for sometime now. We stopped otw to the beach. My honey loved his triple decker club w/homemade chips. My fries were great. The atmosphere was very inviting & warm. Loved the old school feel. They even made me a fish sandwhich that was not even part of the menu. That fish sandwhich looked amazing. However, I thought it was flounder not cat fish. Not their fault. So, on the way back from the same trip stopped again. Honey got a only mayo bacon cheeseburger & mine all the way well w/ fries. A FREAKING AMAZING! Honey completed his whole meal. Fast; friendly & soooo yummy! We live 60 miles /straight shot. Because we often just venture long rides alot, we've decided to frequent Hornes often moving forward

I stop there on my way to Virginia Beach and it was a wonderful restaurant remind me of my childhood the people were very nice if you ever in Virginia on 17 please stop bye

They have THE BEST Turkey Double decker club sandwich. Hands down delicious. Prices should be lower though. Other than that, food is great! Taco salad is delicious too and Meatloaf platter .

I haven't eaten actual food here, but their ice cream is fantastic.

We enjoy eating here as the food is always good and the servings are hearty. Never have to wait long. Steamed shrimp appetizer we get while waiting for our meal and it's so good and steamed just right. I got the fish and chips and my husband got the chopped steak (I believe it's what it's called) with gravy and mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious! There is a little gift shop and I always find something to purchase. Nice quality items I have found there.

Classic great food in booths. One of the last locations of what was a pretty large restaurant chain. Great breakfast, sandwiches and dinner with a full menu. High pitched roof painted red is your sign to pull over and eat. Beautiful area, great place to eat.

I stopped by for an early dinner today with my husband. I absolutely enjoyed my meal! I got a "Virginian" meal which came with two whole quails deep-fried, a good chunk of country ham and two sides. Everything was amazing! Service was great! I will be back again and would recommend this place to my friends

Fun place to stop to stretch your legs and feet some ice cream doing a long road trip

This place is an absolute Gem I stop just about every time I pass it. Breakfast,Lunch, and dinner Horne's has yet to let me down. I have yet to have anything bad on the menu. My personal favorite is the Cuban sandwich and usually the go-to on the menu for me. Highly recommend if passing through stopping and getting something or call in a Togo order for your drive. You will not be disappointed a bit!
